Really ???
Nothing I like watching on my 60" Flat Screen TV is a flipping Frost Warning that scrolls continuously across the screen for hours.
Like there isn't enough info on the screen, a local station seems to think that we need more.
Good luck checking other scores and teams during a "major" weather event.

Quincy's # 1 cable company

Amores said Comcast would not release the number of its customers who were affected by the outages.
Cable and Internet out for 12 hrs and no notice what so ever and a pretty piss poor explaination of where it happened and how many affected.
Isn't it great when the city gives you a Monopoly.

What the Pakistani Intelligence Agencies Missed

The compound was three stories tall but had few windows facing outside. It appeared to be worth at least $1 million, but had no telephone or Internet connections to the outside world. It had 12-to-18-foot security walls topped by barbed wire, and occasional plumes of smoke where the residents burned trash that they dare not place outside like other neighbors for trucks to haul away.
Wow. Really ??

OBL Funeral

An official at Monday's Pentagon briefing said the body, once aboard the USS Carl Vinson, was washed and placed in a white sheet. It was then placed in a "White Ford Fairlane" and a military officer read prepared "religious remarks," which were translated into Arabic by a "native speaker" who was not further identified.
The body was then placed on a "prepared flat surface, tipped up, whereupon the Fairlane was eased into the sea," the official said.

Do the Math

The country is in the middle of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, which isn't stopping rich donors and the government from spending $170 million, or more, on the inauguration of Barack Obama .

Hello bloggers.
I am Quincy Fire and I was a Whig-aholic. I have been Whig-free for about 8 months now. Although I still read the paper every now and then, it is now strictly for entertainment value. Therefore I anytime I do read something odd, I'll blog about it under “ Whig Free”
Also as I wonder around this metropolis, I frequently ask myself “who is footing the bill for this and how much is it?” So those will be listed under “ Who Pays For This?”

Snow Way !

Snow removal efforts focus on Downtown Quincy
What makes downtown get more attention than the rest of the city ??? Do they pay more taxes ?
Even though Cape Air has canceled its flights, Quincy Regional Airport remains open.
Open for what? BYO brown bag lunch and free security scans ?
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"
I call bullshit. Have not got mail for 2 days.
Quincy's weather forecasting service, Murray and Trettel Inc., told city crews that snow was supposed to start falling by 11 a.m.
Quincy still PAYS a weather forecasting service? Can't someone use the internet there?

Air Traffic Controller: Air boss we have two confirmed incoming planes headed for the pentagon and the World Trade Center. What should I do?
Air Boss ( who knows EVERYTHING): "This is probably more of a blip on the radar than anything else, This should run its course."

Wind 1, Hydro 0

Global Winds Harvest of Schenectady, N.Y., in partnership with Acciona Energy North America, is considering installing up to 100 generators, or possibly more in Adams County.
If a wind farm were to get off the ground, it could have a big economic impact on the county. Zellman said a wind farm would create 200 or more construction jobs and 15 to 20 permanent jobs upon completion. These would be high-paying jobs offering between $50,000 and $70,000 a year.
An array of wind turbines would generate significant property tax revenue for local schools and other governmental entities.
Where does this private company get off by NOT spending MILLIONS of taxpayer money investing in something that might work?
Why are there not MILLIONS of taxpayer dollars being spent on studies and engineering fees?
Create 200 or more construction jobs and 15 to 20 permanent jobs upon completion?
Glad it will create tax revenue for our governmental entities so we can piss more money away on our Hydro project.......
