Quote-of-the-Day...

"It's going to be a tough pill to swallow for our community, but like anything, we will get through this and do our very best to assist folks in any way we can, try to bring some additional education to them so they can retool themselves, market themselves to a new position hopefully with a company here."

An Inconvenient Truth

in·con·ven·ient

adjective

not convenient; specif.,

1. not favorable to one's comfort; difficult to do, use, or get to; causing trouble or bother; unhandy

  1. Obsolete not appropriate

Holding a press conference to announce that glass will be collected at a single downtown location and only during a single day with limited hours.

con·ven·ient

adjective

1. adding to one's comfort; easy to do, use, or get to; causing little trouble or work; handy

2. easily accessible (to); near (to)

Having local area food stores ( Hy-Vee, County Market) team up with Quincy recycle and place modified trash containers at stores. The bins would be similar to what Waste Management uses that are hauled for residential use on the back of their trucks. Very little handling and filled containers could be trucked down to recycle to grind up for shipment to STL.*

*Got this idea form the olden days when soda used to come in 16 returnable glass bottles. Soda bottles were charged a deposit and the deposit was collected when the empty bottles were returned to the store. No one has a problem hauling the glass containers that are purchased at local food stores home, why not make it convenient to haul them back and dispose of them for recycle ??
