Please Stand by....

Police called to ‘stand by’ after
student removed from QND

A Quincy Notre Dame High School student was removed from the school’s campus Thursday morning and Quincy police were called to “stand by in the area.”

Quincy Police Lt. Dennis Bingheim said QND administrators asked for officers to “stand by in the area” when a student was told to leave. No arrests were made, Bingheim said.

Of course, it's QND.

No police report was made, and Bingheim referred further questions to the QND administration.

No Comment Please. Please.

Principal Ray Heilmann said he could not comment about the case or confirm that a student was removed.

Well somebody did.

He denied reports from some students and parents that the school was locked down and students were not allowed to leave the building or enter the school gymnasium without being escorted by a faculty member because of the incident.

Stop. Please stop asking questions. This is bad press!

“There was never an issue of concern or safety,” Heilmann said. “It was just more proactive.”

QPD is always called for "stand-by in the area". These also include Bomb threats, Hostage situations and Bank hold ups. Never an issue of safety or concern here either.

Heilmann acknowledged that students were kept inside the building during lunch from 10:53 a.m. to 12:33 p.m. Thursday, in part “because of the pouring rain.”

NWS at Baldwin International Airport in Quincy reports that weather conditions Thursday between 10:54am and 11:54 was overcast, 61 degrees and only received 0.17 inches of rain.

This could have been titled " QND Damage Control 101 "

Pull my other leg and it plays Jingle Bells.

I saw that. They put it on the Obit/Nation page 10A. Go figure.

Nice counter.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Hypothetically speaking, what would YOU do if you were in charge of QND? Don't go telling me you'd be all alarmist and alert all the media to what was going on.

Assuming, of course , something actually was going on.

How about the TRUTH ?

Works for QHS.

Makes one wonder

What did QHS tell the truth about? There wasn't even a threat there.

Damn fire you made a huge deal here out of nothing. If you spend your time trying to point a finger, you end up point at shit just to be pointing.

If this post even takes us to the dark place of QND vs QHS I will most assuredly barf straight onto my laptop. I am so sick of that standoff I could scream.

I love the part about no police report filed. QPD rushes over and stands by for a couple of hours and no fricken report? Like it never happened?? I imagine the mayor made his customer sanitizing phone call to the chief.

“There was never an issue of concern or safety,” Heilmann said.

If that's the case, what was the police called in for?

"I imagine the mayor made his customer sanitizing phone call to the chief."

That's just stupid. Absolutely stupid. This is why people can't read blogs like this and expect for any kind of serious discussion to ever take place.

"NWS at Baldwin International Airport in Quincy reports that weather conditions Thursday between 10:54am and 11:54 was overcast, 61 degrees and only received 0.17 inches of rain."

Now that's what makes blogs like this worthwhile. Someone actually took the time to put Heilmann's feet to the fire and see if it actually was raining at that time. (And if you look further, you'll notice it didn't rain at all the next hour, either.)

You know, it's understandable that the school wants to keep this quiet, but don't you think it would be wiser to actually tell people what went on and why the students weren't allowed outside rather than lie about it?

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51.

Love the timer, that's great! Maybe we'll get some justice hear, via Tookie! Also, I still have time to get my time off requests in so I can attend the trial.

From what I understand, they should have had the men in white suits standing by.

Regarding individual students the school will not comment - that is policy at any school. It is obvious that you are trying in some way to tarnish the image of QND - that is your right I guess. With so many other issues to discuss and you not having children at QND I do not really see why this is a priority, unless you are simply and callously taking a shot at QND. If this is the case your comments should simply be ignored.

Ignore away.

This was bad by any means but the lame way it was attempted to be covered up makes it even worse.

Damned well know that if had happened at QHS it would have made the front page.

Fair enough?

You don't know what you are talking about.
