Hump Day...

Few thoughts for today:

  • Three city employees (all women) released form the city.

  • Three Fire dept employees (all men) sitting on the fence pending committees verdict.

Hope the Mayor is correct in saying they have a strong case. If not, the city could be looking at some high $$ court cases.

More thoughts:

  • There are 4 legal eagles on the payroll for the city.

  • We fly in a hired gun to take care of this personal issue.

Kinda like having 4 snow blowers sitting in your garage and when it snows, pay the neighbor kid to shovel your drive…….

Final Thoughts:

  • Employers can be liable for employees' misuse of company e-mail

  • Sexual, racial, and other forms of harassment can be done by e-mail

  • Too much time wasted surfing the World Wide Web

Monitoring employees' use of company computers, e-mail, and the Internet involve the same basic issues as come into play with general searches at work, telephone monitoring, and video surveillance. Those basic issues revolve around letting employees know that as far as work is concerned, they have no expectation of privacy in their use of company premises, facilities, or resources, and they are subject to monitoring at all times. Naturally, reason and common sense supply some understandable limitations, such as no video cameras in employee restrooms, and no forced searches of someone's clothing or body, but beyond that, almost anything is possible in the areas of searches and monitoring. They have the right to inspect an employee's computer, HD, floppy disks, and other media at any time.

Scary Huh ??

I don't see what's so scary about it. I have top follow the same rules at my place of employment. If people are too stupid to understand that your employer can inspect your computer at any time, then they deserve to be fired. And while some of the comments on this blog want to make these six city workers look like victims, the fact is, people wouldn't have lost their jobs if they hadn't fucked up. Personally, I applaud John Spring and the City of Quincy for doing the right thing, and getting rid of people who were wasting my tax dollars.

You should hold your applause 1:05. The "supervisors" consistently tun a blind eye to waste fraud and abuse by city employees. The only reason something happened this time was one of the spouses demanded it. Spring and the City are NOT heroes in this case.

I agree with Fire. What exactly does the legal team do?

Now you should do a countdown of how many days it takes to list the job openings for these vital positions.

i checked the cities website for job openings after I heard about the 3 being fired, no listings............wonder how important those jobs really were...?

They already have certain Gruessy -Duessy -Reisy -Hags on a lsit for those positions. They have a system in place, it may be a Gruessy turn, or a Reissy, etc, don't know who's turn it is in the cycle to get a hire in, but you can bet your ass it will be one of em's turn.

Still no jobs available, but I see they added another Beebe to the payroll at IT.

Mayor Spring says the police and fire commission will handle those complaints and decide the fate of those employees.

Any News Yet ?

Charlie is waiting on someone to tell him what to do ........

lol

So did Deb Beebe replace Som Weise at IT?

Was that job posted anywhere outside City Hall?

WTF?

Anonymous said...

She's listed as a secretary. Som was a $42k/yr sr analyst, whatever the fuck that is.

Looks like they just made up a position to answer the phone to tell callers that Murhpy is in a "meeting" and won't be available until tomorrow. After all, it's just another $30k plus a top notch benefits and vacation sick day package. No shame with these turds.

that doesnt surprise me at all, the amount of nepotism is incredible in this town

Sowbelly receives 10 free hours of web time a month. Will subscribe to regular monthly service if this blog is worth my time. Computer-illiterate and not sure if this message will reach Quincy Fire. Many comments to be shared on the school board's mis-managing a $21 million surplus in the Education Fund. And on how they deceived the public into thinking the school board can't spend the $4.5 million in allegedly "sequestered" tort funds. It is evidenced in the Illinois State Board of Education Historical Archives the school board did not "sequester" the $4.5 million in tort funds. The Historical Archives state the school board spent the $4.5 million on salaries in the 2008 budget. Well, my ten hours might be running out. Will check Quincy Fire next month to see if my computer skills have improved.
