I don't think anyone should be allowed to speak. They are not elected officials and get their say when it is time to vote. WE elected John Spring to CONTROL these types of situations and that is just what he did. HE followed the law. Spring is connected to Chicago and Washington and he is doing what he is told to do also. I don't care what one citizen has to say. I only care how much money Spring can bring into this community and I don't care how he does it. So all you tax protestors just keep your big mouths shut. Mayor Springs comments, during WGEM Radio show at 4, stated that no one showed up for the budget hearings. Mayor Spring believes that citizens should only speak when spoken too. Also, his premise that the Quincy Tea Party Speaker chose the evening to disrupt the occasion of the new aldermen swearing and that his family was disturbed was a total crock. In fact the two newest alderman voted to hear Mr. McQueen. Again, double speak from a two face.

It's fairly obvious when the first week has a 4 to 1 lead and just today it comes in as a tie.

I kind of see both sides on this. One the one hand, the budget stuff is over. This was clearly some sort of organized protest designed to disrupt the council meeting. I saw McQueen on the news basically saying "Hey man I was busy and can't make it every week." Not sure I buy that one, and there's certainly a group of people around town who think the election is still coming up.
On the other hand, I don't really see what the harm would have been in letting the guy speak. All it did was stir things up for no reason, and draw a line in the sand. It was silly, and stupid.
Do you have "free speech" in a formal meeting? No. Should they have let him speak his mind? Yes.
How do you disrupt the meeting by speaking at the end?

I have no problem with anyone getting a raise, private or public sector. What I do have a problem with is people bitching about it because of their own situation. What's great about this country is that everybody has the opportunity to better their lot in life. Sadly, too many people don't have the ambition to get off their asses and do something about it. The economy affects only those people who are willing to allow it to happen to them. Well, fuck them. If they don't have the motivation to change their lives, then they deserve to wallow in mediocrity.
As for this dipshit that wanted to speak to the council, fuck him too. He had three weeks to speak up, but he waited for that meeting. Now why was that? It because lowlife cockroaches like Dave Bellis, Dave Nuessen, Larry Ehmen, Tookie, and J. Robert Goughstanza advised him to do it, and he doesn't have the balls to think on his own. So no, I don't feel sorry for his ass being told to go take a seat and to shut the fuck up.
As for the budget, my guess is that you haven't read anything more complicated than the warning label on a pack of Camel's, so what the fuck do you know about it other than what you read on that piece-of-shit Quincy(NotReally)News.org?
