What did you sign us up for?

Didn't know WTF our Mayor signed us all up for in all this Tiahrt Amendment/ Mayors against illegal guns crap so I did some info check.

When a mayor commits his city's loyalty, I would expect he sought some public input into what he was getting into. My phone never rang so maybe my input was not important.

After about a two hour search, I can't see a single reason that he would commit the city's name to such a amendment. Maybe to get trace the background of this LEGAL gun owner pictured here..........

First of all, This amendment did not block any law enforcement agency from getting trace information provided they were conducting a bona fide criminal investigation. The language clearly allowed law enforcement to do its job, but prevented rogue politicians or anti-civil rights groups from conducting vigilante fishing expeditions.

Second, What it does do is let anti-gun politicians use this information for their own agendas. The trace data is only useful in direct conjunction with a criminal investigation. Any other use would not yield viable results because of the nature of the data. For example, a trace might be run on a firearm that had nothing to do with a crime, such as to verify a firearm isn't stolen. This would yield a false positive if attempting to use the data out of context on a witch hunt to try to find problems that don't exist.

That is all I could find. Two hours, two facts, and you slapped our city's name to this?

How about getting the city's IT department to create some kind of interactive public input/ feedback page that could gauge the "citys" true voice and go from there?

Oh, that's right, hackers could break in and skew the information.

Tick, Tick, Tick.

This removal of the Tiahrt amendment from the appropriations bill for the BATF by the anti-Second Amendment politicians would allow them to go into the private 4473 government records held at the local gundealers and determine which LEGAL citizens had guns, what kind of guns they owned and how many. You can clearly see why anyone who believes in the Constitution and for that matter, individual freedom would oppose this blatant attack on freedom by a group of political hacks bent on evermore government control over our private lives. They must be stopped. Examine the issues and vote accordingly!

Here's Spring's quote(s) from the paper the size of a postage stamp:

"I'm not going to apologize for using common sense in supporting law enforcement to keep illegal guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals," he said.

"Public safety is the most important issue for any city, regardless of its size. Keeping illegal guns and weapons off the streets and protecting our kids is very important to me and this community."

The guy has absolutely no friggin idea what he signed up for. And who would collect and maintain this database of guns? The IT Director? I'd wait until after the FBI finishes with him before I'd give the guy more access to our personal data.

Seems to me our Mayor was & still is currying favor from his Chicago handlers. This group he signed on to is a pet project of Chicago Mayor Daley.

If the group was successful it would not take a anti-gun Mayor long to use the data to collect guns & prosecute owners under the guise of "keeping our streets and kids safe".

For example, in IL, a FOID card is required to own a gun or buy ammo. If the FOID card were to not be renewed on time a warrant could be issued & the guns seized until fines paid or possibly never.

A bill in front of IL congress now seeks to amend the FOID card act so any person who owns a firearm in the state must maintain a $1 million or higher policy of liability insurance. Guess what would happen if the insurance database didn't match the FOID ownership database?

Does anyone think people in possession of illegal guns care about a FOID card or carrying liability insurance? This is just a way to vilify a segment of society & then punish it by using a fee/tax or rule to modify behavior.

Will not be long until one of these "Mayors Against"... or a state will impose a special tax on bullets in an effort to regulate behavior or at least profit on it.

The whole problem with the philosophy of Gun Control is that you can't keep illegal guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals. Duh--If your a criminal, what do you care if a gun is illegal or not. Criminals will always be able to get illegal guns.
All the laws in the world won't change that. There are millions and millions of guns in the world because they have been produced for over a hundred years. All that Gun Control laws do, is keep law abiding citizens from being able to protect themselves, have a hobby, hunt, ect.

The Mayor is either not informed about gun control facts, or he's pandering to the Chicago political crowd.
Either of these is detrimental to the citizens of Quincy.

Oh, Q fire, must compliment you on your great picture of the beach.

The fine upstanding gun owner in that pic must not be a fan of concealed carry.

Or if she is, she probably needs to reconsider her choice of attire--though as a devotee of the Callipygean, I hope she refrains from putting anything on just to hide the gun.

BTW, I note that whenever the Mayor appears to be caught in doing something silly, he falls back on the "public safety" and "we have to protect our kids" mantra.

I like him personally--he's a charming kind of guy. A fundraiser, if I may.

But he's a disaster as mayor.

You people need to lighten up on our good mayor ,after all his whole family likes government pensions and benefits and all he is trying to do is secure his. Just keep working and send in your money, John really really needs it. Now get back to work and quit your bitchin'.

why isn't the central services marital problems in the public eye???????????????????????????

Anonymous said...

Maybe they didn't use the city's email. Then it's OK. Right?

Anonymous said...

what central services marital problems? don't just go around spreading rumors, unless you have something to back it up!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I don't think anyone's marital problems need to be in the public eye. Why don't we dig into your personal life? Just because they have a public job doesn't mean they're not entitled to their privacy.

Anonymous said...

Unless a city dept head is boinking his secretary or something like that, right?

Anonymous said...

they made a point of making the firefighters lives public....why not the director of central services....double-standard bullshit......

Anonymous said...

It just depends on who you are with Spring.

Anonymous said...

The firefighters were screwing while on the clock, and on city property. That's the difference. 2-23 4:01 didn't mention any bad behavior going on while on the clock, or using city property for "personal" gain... all that was said was "marital problems". Unless something like that is happening on the city's dime, NOT ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS.

440

so you're ok with someone's supervisor screwing his secretary who's husband also has the same supervisor. is that what you're selling?

Anonymous said...

where's you go 440? are you done now?

Anonymous said...

BOOOOORING!

Anonymous said...

1253

tell his kids how booooring it's been

Anonymous said...

No one said sleeping with your secretary was OK. But it's PERSONAL BUSINESS. That's between all of the parties involved, not someone posting on a blog to be stirring up shit. If he's screwing his secretary, that's his business. AS LONG AS IT'S NOT ON CITY TIME, it's not any of your business. There are way too many factors involved when it comes to someone's personal life and marriage for others to be passing judgement. No one knows what goes on inside a marriage except for the two people in it, and everyone else needs to mind their own fucking business, if that's even possible in this town.

Anonymous said...

But yes, I do have a problem with someone cheating on their spouse, just like I have a problem with alot of things that people do. I'm sure that IF this is true, then his wife is probably having a really tough time right about now, and would probably want all of this gossip and bullshit to stop. THAT'S WHY I SAY THAT IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. LEAVE IT ALONE AND LET THEM SORT IT OUT.

Anonymous said...

You don't know it wasn't on city time.

Anonymous said...

You're right I don't know that. But I also don't know that it WAS. And i don't know that anything happened at all. It's all bullshit talk at this point. So leave it alone.

Anonymous said...

Sure you don't. It happened. Like John Spring said when addressing the firefighter situation, in the private sector they would have been fired. If the supervisor of a secretary and her husband was doing the secretary at work or at your house, where I work they would be fired. Case closed!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Until your last post, no one actually said that it did happen at work. All I read was "marital problems" AND AS I HAVE SAID OVER AND OVER AGAIN, if it happened on city time then it IS an issue! So since you seem to have hard evidence of this, why don't you go do something about it instead of posting meaningless shit on a blog? Case Closed? Yeah, right...

how naive are you people...the boss is fucking the secretary..of course things are happening on the tax payer dollar, youve got to be kidding me if you think it's not going on at work....give me a fucking break....

Anonymous said...

And we're just supposed to take your word for it... before you go and ruin several lives you better make damn sure you have your facts straight.
