I was wondering about Comcast Internet services. Insight told me not to pay my bill thru them anymore and that Comcast would e-mail me. Well, I haven't received any e-mails from Comcast on anything. I haven't paid my bill in like two months. I'm sure that will go over well.
Oh, also, why do you like DirecTV over Dish? I'm moving in a couple of weeks and am trying to compare my options....I have Dish now but my contract is up.
Dish has the local channels, DirecTV does not. That's a Dish advantage.
DirectTV does have two FOX affiliates (LA and NY), so you don't have to watch CGEM and get interrupted by a weatherguy everytime there is a thunderstorm.
I haven't had time to write a new post, but mine was going to be very close to Fire's on this topic.
I don't know why anyone would still have cable.
I went to DISH a year ago, and I'm pretty happy with it , compared to the Insight cable. I get a heck of a lot more for about the same money, a little less with Dish.
What do you do for an ABC outlet?
No ABC is another DirecTV drawback.

I struck out there. Anyone around here should be albe to pull ABC (& all other locals) in on KHQA's 7.2 digital w/ an antenna, I can't , I'm surrounded by trees and neighbors (3-story home) on the northeast side of my place. I got shot down for the waiver too on my local package, they(DISH) credit me 1.00 a month for that (wow!) That does kind of suck for sports. Anyone else, though, should be able to pick up the ABC KHQA throws out over air on, I believe 7.2.
PS I tried with an in-door amplified antenna, couldn't get is consistently, ABC kept going in & out. I hear they work better in the winter time, though, w/o leaves on trees. Gotta love our "tree city".... That's what I should tell Leo Henning LOL
Thanks all. I've never had anything except for Dish and am interested in opinions. PS My Internet bill from Comcast finally did come today, so that was a relief. $80.

That being said, seeing the Mayor on TV whining about he has to pay it too is a bit disingenuous. He negotiated the contract. He has some responsibility here.
Let's stop pretending that 7.2 is a viable option for ABC programming. The image quality looks like something my dog crapped out last night.
7.2 is not a Comcast problem, that's a KHQA problem...... as if they don't have enough already.
I get ABC in high def and CBS on DirectTV, but they are not local.
The biggest advantage DirectTV has is the sports packages.
Getting the NFL Sunday ticket when you can watch every game every Sunday in high def is a dream for a football fan and I never have to worry about what the local stations are going to show or not show. I can see them all.
Direct has college football packages, NHL, NBA, MLB packages all for the sports nut.
Of course, the more you add the more $$, so I am not saving any money-but I am enjoying what I am paying for.
Did I see in the Whig that DVR is $10 a month through Comcast?
That is a rip-off. It's $5 a month on DirecTV and when it first came out I got it free for the first year.
10$ a month for DVR seems like al lot, yes, I pay 5$ a month for DVR on DISH. But DVR is so cool, I would pay anything for it. Next to the "Chill Wizard" beer can 30 second cooler, DVR is best invention known to man.

I thought the ABC 7.2 image was okay, if it would only stay locked in, but it kept coming in & out, even with an indoor amplified antenna only 6. 3 miles from the freakin tower. But like i said, I am surrounded by trees and a 3 story house. Anyone have a chain saw for sale cheap?

Congratulations on the "Kids First" School Board for dropping its pants for the new super, just like it always drops its pants for the teachers' union. It's not their money so why do they care?
This hire means The Whig will up its "kid gloves" treatment of the School Board to new levels.

Note that Comcast was at the bottom of the recent Consumer Reports ratings for, Internet, cable, and phone services. Not that you would find that out thru the local media. Or the fact that Comcast can not add anymore customers until it improves customer service in several areas, per the Insight/ Comcast breakup.

Just Because other school districts around the national are jumping off bridges when paying this positions salary, do we need to follow?
Quincy school district getting a tax increase after paying $170,000 for a new school superintendant = highly unlikely!
Everytime the school district requests a tax increase it will be killed in the barbershops, beauty shops, barstools, etc . . .
and killed in the blogs.
