Business Owners Unite !!

Since the QHW will not interview the flip side of this issue, several local business owners have started a petition of signatures of local customers who oppose the local smoking ban.

Please take time before Monday to stop in to your neighbor business owner and let our city alderman know that they know what is best for their business.

One thought that come to my mind is why did CFSFQ wait till this weekend to ramrod the smoking ban to the city council ? Most business owners are occupied with Superbowl weekend that that no opposition would occur. ???

Sorry I had to turn this on.

Have become annoyed with the posting of some who use this for unrelated issues.

I will post any and all RELATED comments that are for or against these posts. It is not my intent to limit comments, just eliminate some BS.

I hope to update this every couple of hours.

Give clean air a chance. Contact your aldermen and let them know children in public places have a right to clean air.

Not good.

I would also ask that, after the ban goes through, that smokers do not clog up entranceways to resturants and bars. Make sure and let people get in and out of places when your standing outside smoking.

Thank You.

If it's for the children, then a good
place to start rather than bars where
there are very few children, is in the
automobiles and homes of parents who smoke in the presence of their children. Unless it's just your children you're concerned about.

Adults have a right to clean air in public places, too. This right will be protected. It's that simple. It's happened everywhere else, it will happen here. Deal with it!

Lootie:

Sorry about the moderation. Just got a little out of hand with the comments that had little to do with the subject. I have posted EVERY comment I have received here today. Posts were getting to be ads for a local restaurant.

On another note, Is the Lootster starting to blog again ??

Identify for me where you determined that adults have the right to clean air?

Is this like the right to vote thing we did a few weeks back? You remember, the one where I was right and the other guy just shut up.

For the 100th time, people, there are plenty of places that don't allow smoking...go there. You have a choice. Business should have a choice. The simplest way to end the whole debate is just make nicotine illegal, period! Until then, if you dont like smoking, go to a smoke-free place...there are lots of them. When will the government quit telling us what we can and cannot do??? And I quit smoking over a year ago!

Ay, Lootie, I'll F*** YOU till YOU love me! just kiddin

All I want to do is go to El Reach Around, eat my Chimichanga, and breathe clean air. The smoke just billows out of the smoking section there. And no, Fire, I don't mean to advertise for a certain place, just case in point.

Who won at CB tag today?

Can you give us a list of bars that are participating in the petition circulation?

It all starts with an anti-smoking ban. And now,
this
...

I was at about 5 local businesses this week that serve cold beverages and ALL 5 had petitions.

Has anyone beyond the authors and the council seen the actual proposed ordinance? Do the businesses with petitions have a copy?

Smokers believe they have a god given right to do what they do and to hell with anyone who disagrees with them. The non-smoking world has no rights. The smokers can light up anyplace they want because to expect them to exercise any self control is unreasonable. They can throw their butts out of moving cars, on the floor of your business, school, church, hospital. They are like pet owners who walk their dogs and let them crap in your yard and not pick it up....not their problem. I used to smoke, I understand the addiction part, what I don't understand is the attitude that it is a right with no responsibility. To argue that it does not hurt you or your neighbor is totally ignorant. The reason you see something being done now is do to a lack of manors on smoker’s part, pure and simple. They have had ample time to make adjustments, bar and restaurant owners have had time to adjust air considerations in their business’s to accommodate the health of their customers. Now it is time for some action. Frankly, smokers have blown it.

It's not the smokers believeing they have a god given right to do what they do. It's about forceing local business owners how to run their business.

and part II, you whine and cry about butts laying all over? What about gum? When is the last time you had a cig butt stick to the bottom of your shoe? Should gum be next items banned?

Many people are jumping on the bandwagon here just to see smoking and smokers come to an end. What the real issue here is a band of the few are trying to make laws for the many.

If you do not like smoke or smokers, PLEASE you your voting $$ and visit one of the local businesses that ban smoking.

As Fire stated in the eariler post "If banning smoking really were good for their business, wouldn't they have discovered it by now, and wouldn't that make laws mandating bans unnecessary?"

I'll go to any business I want, cause they all will be smoke free soon. Stick a lit cig up your ass, probalbly the only action you've had in a while.

PS Gov, even ours, tells everyone what to do, ever hear of laws?

Screw you, prop boy. Don't you have play to set up for. And hurry up and bring the cast lunch, they're hungry.

And I want my check in 100.'s, plus 20 worth of singles, you're old lady is dancin tonight.

Senor Badass said...

Oh I see... check... you mean food stamps. No, I don't actually GIVE you the food stamps. I pay taxes and you pick them up from your parole officer or your social worker.

Also, since you seem to want to break the unspoken rule about spouses... your husband might be pissed to find out your finger banging yourself in front of some dirty mexican's wife while trying to pay for Natural Lite with a Link card.
