Damn it Fire, I agreed ith ya on the cab thing, disagreed with ya on the smoking issue! Just when we were getting along so well, you bring up the smoking issue again! Oh well, they'll duke it out in the city council, like they are in KC, MO now. Let's see how KC turns out. Also, I stopped in the McDonald's in Forsyth, IL (Decatur), you can't smoke within 15 ft of the place, that's progress, ain't it ?

Quincy Fire said...

Let's agree to not smoke in the cabs!!...wait...it's after 1AM..ther are no cabs.

Oh well.....

It's Friday!!!!!! The super sleuths will be out to make money for the city. They will be putting all that training on how to catch criminals to good use tonight. Speeders, drunks, smokers and ....ooops, not yet. Still think we should hire more meter maids to do the same job for alot less.

Oh well......easy come easy go......

Did you read Copley in the QHW last night ? He said not to bring your purse or wallet with you while shopping so no pick pockets can steal them .

WELL HOW IN THE F*CK IS ONE TO BUY ANYTHING ?

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

As a special part of the police-cab relationship, cab drivers will now be carrying radar guns and are
authorized to issue speeding tickets.

Anonymous said...

I hear they get tazers too and those neat-o Black BDU's with thigh holsters and jack boots ........

Quincy Cabbies don't PHuck around !

Ay UMRB (Copely's illegimate mouthpiece), do people really rob banks and then call cabs for the get-a-way? Nice stretch!

UMRBlog said...

1734,

Don't recall saying anything about bank robbers. Said off the top of my head I could think of two killers and a rapist. Since then, I have thought of two burglars.

Just because you didn't hear about it in whatever little comfortable world you inhabit while police officers protect you doesn't mean it didn't happen. Obviously, "stretch" is a bad word for you because your intellect is incapable of stretching out to new concepts.

Even people who disagree with my conclusions will tell you I don't lie. If you're gonna call me a liar at least get the puss out of your eyes and read what I write.

Your position is so stupid, I don't know if you know what the words mean but, for the record, my parents were married about seven years when I was born. If that's not what you meant by "illegitimate" then you'll have to concentrate your closed, septic brain long enough to explain what you you were trying to say.

Now I'm gonna generalize and say that there seems to be a general idea out there that folks like you have some kind of protected right to speed and Drive Under the Influence. If you want that kind of society, You're gonna have to change the face of your legislative bodies. If you really don't give a rat's ass what kind of people haul your aunt or your mother or your blind uncle around, then it really doesn't matter that there's a character test for a cab operator. If you do, it does. Your call. If that's the kind of city/state/Country you want, we just disagree.

"Let's all hate Copley because he enforces the rules which inconvenience us" is a pretty microbrained approach. In fact, this last comment seems to make you a posterperson for that movement.

Damn Uncle Tony !

The phrase " He got TOLD" poped into my head in a Wanda Sikes voice.

There is a vast difference between enforcement and harassment . I think the complaints dept of the Local blogs bitches about the later.

Also we differ in views on Gov't around here. I think Political machines aren't bad if they WORK to get break beuracracy . But with out REAL LEADERSHIP , the machine can break , leaving the public at a grave disservice.

We are a bit heavy on the inbred nepotisim around here. Not saying they Nepo's don't do a good job , but many times they get their hands into vast other things.

But I feel like crap so I won't write a novel .

Anonymous said...

Just because you didn't hear about it in whatever little comfortable world you inhabit while police officers protect you doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I think what you meant to say was, "while cab drivers protect you".

Damn, umrb, just thought your lumping cab drivers in with law enforcement was pretty weak, loose. Also, you read into legitimacy way, way too far! We all know you bonafided!

9:16 or Artist formerly KAL

Just come out and say you're not a Spring fan!

Anonymous said...

KAL ?

Way off target. Spring's a decent guy , but a real rookie . Let's say his "cabnet" isn't filled with Yale & Harvard guys .
There is a real void in leadership at City hall and a lot of characters out of Machiavelli's "THE PRINCE" running amouk.

I hope you've learned a valuable lesson. Even if you didn't call UMR a bastard liar, he will pretend you did anyway....you posterperson for speeding drunk non blind relative caring about stupid haters.

UMRBlog said...

No that's not what I meant. Police officers protect us in our little whitebread worlds, so we can pontificate about stuff whereof whe have no knowledge, such as how critical a cab company be to the capture of a freshly fleeing felon.

I'm sure whatever you do's important and you're probably good at it. But we all tend to get into the habit of thinking our knowledge is universally so. Yours, in this ase, isn't.

The "illegitimate" word wasn't mine. I just addressed it once it was tossed at me. Didn't take much talent to use it but that's your call.

Lesson well taken! LOL. Uncle Tony must have gotten up on the wrong side off the bed! In a way Tony provide's a good lesson in rhetoric (not so much the "you're stupid cause you don't suppport Copely) but the way he defends the dems, the local admin he works for & Copley. His arguments go out on a limb too far (a cab driver caught a bank robber here in 1972...), and he stretches like Armstrong, but we still love him! Easy with the bastard talk, he's a might touchy these days! He put his pedigree up a minute ago (which we never, ever questioned)!

Hey there are two people on the planet i enjoy a debate with : Uncle Tony & Jim P !

Toss Chuck in there for long range philosophical talks about everything & nothing .

But for a flat out DEBATE / Argument with smiles : UMR & JP are my favorite .

Now Uncle Joe is fun , but been doing it far too long.

p.s. : I left out John H. I enjoy talking to him .

Another political newcomer is running in the 3rd ward. Quincy police officer John Douglas will be on the Democratic ticket in ward 3. Quincy Police Assistant Chief Ron Dreyer said Douglas already planned to retire by next summer. If he wins this election, he'll retire before he takes office. Douglas will run against Republican incumbent Paul Havermale.

TWO F*CKING WORDS : HATCH ACT

Anonymous said...

He is the DARE officer ! A lot of Fed funds come into the DARE program .

DUH ! DUH ! DUH !

Anonymous said...

Maybe our Great investigative minds could take some time off keeping cabbies off our roads and LOOK INTO ELECTION LAWS

Anonymous said...

Maybe the great legal mind of UMR could explain why this police officer is exempt from the Hatch Act.

Anonymous said...

1131

I think you will find ABC mysteriously silent on this one.

Anonymous said...

Dem's are exempt from all election laws. They run for all the little people who are used by the nasty old Repub's. By the way, it was nice to see QPD's black & white's checking out the Abbey parking lot last night at 8:30. So many illegal things happen there. I felt much safer until I remembered we are getting close to the end of the month. They might have been looking for prospective cab ridders though. All the great PR they do.............such little dickies!!!!

Anonymous said...

Does Douglas's kid need a JOB ? It seems that is the major factor in running for Alderman these days .

" My dad is an Alderman "

City of Quincy " Boy do we got a job for you "

Anonymous said...

Whoose ass do ya gots ta kiss in dis here mudda fucker ta git uh job wiff city? I seen on dey site dat dey ain't hiring brothas. Dat iz whack!Remember da old days, when dey used ta hire G'sta werk da trash. What'sup wiff dat now? All ya see iz now crackers on da back o' dem trucks! ya'll is mad stupid.

Anonymous said...

I would start at Rich Reis Sr's then work your way down "Homie"

;)

Anonymous said...

In a surprise move, the local democrats have chosen yet another candidate who already collects a paycheck from taxpayers.

Anonymous said...

That's what goverment is all about. Keeping unemployable democrats at the public trough. At some point you would think pride would cause them to seek employement some place in the real world where dad, uncle, grandpa or sister didn't snag the job for them. Generation after generations of pigletts.

UMRBlog said...

1302,

You have absolutely no freaking idea how wrong you are about JDoug's adult child. You obviously don't read the paper or, at least, don't retain what you have read.

If our city has ever, ever produced a multi-disciplinary star, it would be Kdoug. Smart, disciplined, polite, an advanced learner and gorgeous to boot. Wouldn't look for her to be in municpal government work. Head of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission maybe, but not in local government.

This is a special young person. I realize you were trying to make a broader point but I suggest you make this omelet without breaking that particular egg.

UMRBlog said...

The federal government maintains a web address for local/state gov't employees to determine their Hatch Status. JDoug's a pretty bright guy. I would guess he checked the HA stuff out in advance and gave his Command Staff a "heads up!"

Sometimes it's just not a good idea to assume that everybody but you is stupid. A lot of times, folks will actually do the right thing.

Anonymous said...

umr 1210

Easy there. How about JDoug and HAct?

Anonymous said...

UMR 1215

Sure, buddy. Just like Street. Just trust that they did the right thing.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes it's just not a good idea to assume that everybody but you is stupid. A lot of times, folks will actually do the right thing.

Tell that to the dumbasses that vetted Kelly Street.

Anonymous said...

"Sometimes it's just not a good idea to assume that everybody but you is stupid."

And other times, based on who is involved, it is a good idea.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of dumb, what's with dumbass farha forgeting to file his paper work? Way to go, farha, ou just left the door open for more teatsuckers to get in! Be more with it next time!

The Grussy Duesy Reisy Hags camped out for days in advance of the cir & county clerks office on Monday, they had kids who needed to keep jobs!

UMRBlog said...

1356,

If you're suggesting that JDoug is stupid, you are way off the mark. If you're saying something else, I suggest you just say in a simple declarative sentence and get it over with.

UMRBlog said...

1216,

No, this is no place to go easy. The writer probably doesn't even know JDoug's family but feels perfectly comfortable ascribing his interest in public service to jobs.

It's probably just as unfair when the anti's rip the Grussenmeyer family for their employment but I can take it as part of a larger point. Here, this young lady has been featured int he local media for her outstanding acumen and somebody who has not bothered to educate himself tees her up. Under the circumstances, he Dad can't stand up for her, so somebody has to do it.

For those of you without pencils and scorecards, this is the young woman who graduated from High School with a higher than maximum GPA and graduated from Junior College in the SAME WEEK!

So I think it might be safe to assume that she is smarter than anybody in here and not in need of a kick start for her career on the back of a Quincy Garbage truck.

UMRBlog said...

1636--Illegitimate means what it means. If the other fellow wants to punk on me, let him defend it. Don't act like I made something up out of wholecloth (I don't really know what wholecloth is but it sounds like a snappy saying.)

Anonymous said...

Uncle Tony wiff street cred:

No, dis here iz nahh place ta jet easy. Dat sucka prob'ly don' even know JDoug's crew, but he feel perfectly comfortable ascribing his interest in public service ta jobs.

It'sprob'ly just as unfair when da anti'srip da Grussenmeyer hood fo' dey employment but I can take it as part o' uh larger point. Here, dis here young beotch has been featured int he local media fo' her outstanding acumen an' somebody who has not bothered ta educate himself tees her up. Under da circumstances, he Dad can't stand up fo' her, so somebody has ta do it.

For those o' ya without pencils an' scorecards, dis here iz da young biotch who graduated from High School wiff uh higher than maximum GPA an' graduated from Junior Teachin' College in da SAME WEEK! Straight up! yo mo-fo ers!

So I th'o't it might be safe ta assume dat she iz smarter than anybody in here an' not in need o' uh smoke start fo' her career on da back o' uh Quincy Garbage `64. y'all is mad stupid.

As for Grussy !

He's related to a BA Int'l member !

I always got along great with Grussy and he was a JOY to work with when he was the Cappo of Da FIRST ward.

:)

The whole related thingy will have you all guessing

Anonymous said...

UMR

Dan Rather called, he has some documents he'd like you to see.

As for the rest of your diatribe, surely you can agree that one or two perhaps three or four Democrat Aldermen finding employment for a family member or two or three is in fact a reality. You may find nothing wrong with it, but stereotypes exist for reason. It was a generaliztion, but you already knew that. Don't take yourself so seriously. We're not in a courtroom. So, take it easy.

He takes over for Jeff Jansen who recently resigned.

Osborn says Jansen is using vacation and sick time.

Lee Osborn, OLC Interim Exec. Director said, "He had a lot of free time and comp time coming and I think they thought it'd be easier on them if they had someone here. I can always get back to them if I have quesions about operations, procedures policies."

Another example for you UMR . You can never be at work and still get paid even after you quit.

Anonymous said...

Sick days when you're not sick? This is fantastic.

Anonymous said...

Does Brown Bottle fever count as a sick day ?

Anonymous said...

"Does Brown Bottle fever count as a sick day ?"

See, the beauty of it is that you don't actually have to be sick to take a sick day. Thus, they become vacation days. It just sounds better to have 15 vacation days and 10 sick days rather than 25 vacations days. Which is, essentially, what you have. We haven't even addressed personal days yet. Teatsuckers!

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't you think the OLC Board would have had enough of nipple suckers and would have appointed some one with a pro-business background to run the place. The board has rubber stamped JJ's incompentence and thievery for years. They ought to lease the place out to the folks at K & L Arena, they seem to know how to fill there place up and not spend taxpayers money.

Anonymous said...

Of the names I have heard bouncing around most would be real good. What the place needs is a makeover , even to the point of ABC's extreme makeover.

We do need some new blood on the board . Not that the members didn't do a good job , but they need to brain storm and get the place moving in a new direction.

The biggest hurdle for Quincy is our lack of vision . Just like recycling , the city has no vision and think status que is good if they can tweak it.

The days of the do what's good for Us first , then the tax payers needs to end. I wouldn't be shocked to see new faces on City Council in a few years and the end of RUBBER STAMPING.
