Say WHAT ??
Alderman split over $256 for recycle bins. Read it here.
Mayor breaks the tie and decides for the cheaper Canadian company.
The Mayor then added: "That's why we've always accepted the lowest bid."
A month ago the Quincy Taxpayer lost almost $6 million dollars on a hydro dream.
Who was the low bidder on this ??

The question that needs to be asked is "Who's head is going to roll for this gross mismanagement of Public Funds ? I can tell you that if this happened in the private sector they would already be gone. The mayor as ceo should be handed his walking papers by his board of directors{city council} the project director should have been the first to go. Then any and all further spending on any form of this project should be stopped and action taken to at least try and recover some of the tax payor's money.
I should have drawn reference in the above post to the Hydro project rather than the recycling tubs.
Personally, I don't know a thing about hydropower but I do think it would be damn funny if that company moving to Illinois could make it work.
Never seen a group as arrogant as Spring and the boys.
City council can't fire the mayor, only the voters can. Tho they could do the classic vote of no confidence and basically let him sit there as a glorified gavel-smasher with no power to accomplish anything.
That might be some amusing poetic justice...
What has he accomplished so far?
Have you seen WGEM's web poll today?
According to WGEM online poll, 54% of the people say Quincy should continue the hydro business.
It is still undetermined how many people from City Hall, Klinger, QNI and GREDF spent their day clicking 'yes.'
In my estimation, the people that want hydro are presently unemployed union members, waiting for the money fairy to deliver them a high paying job with great benefits for a few years, then, hopefully they will be one of the few chosen to "run" the facility, and the dream will continue.
Then they will sit back and relax, as the flooded river negates any real return on our investment, and they can re-elect the boys and girls that brought us this great new green money pit as repayment.
But hey, they mean well.
