I want to know why we spend so much money sprucing up the entry to the city coming across the river on 24 and then, on select weekends of the year, we throw a ratty, nasty looking wooden and wire fence around the pretty parts of Washington Park so it looks horrible. Yes, I know crowd control, but why do they have to put the ugly, old, sh!t fencing IN FRONT of the various lovely bushes and trees at each corner (ESPECIALLY the Maine and 4th corner with the statue WHERE EVERYONE COMING INTO TOWN SEES SH!TTY FENCING) instead of looping it around *BEHIND* so it is at least somewhat out of view?

Or even better, take some of that money the city is spending on dumass things and buy some nice, new crowd control barriers AND some new portable fencing to put around Washington Park when we have these big events. Then it would still look nice for people passing through AND for the folks paying the bucks to hear the great music.

Makes too effing much sense. It will never happen.

Sorry.

A 1.5 mil upgrade on the HVAC system is needed.

That's $37 dollars a piece for every resident of Quincy.

TOOKIE said...

last time I was in City Tajma Hall , it felt cool in there !

Fire you do need to get on the email list

Quincy Fire said...

What list would that be?

FrugalPublicSpending@cityofquincy.com?

Anonymous said...

No the bad ass Int'l & some worthy local press pass info & funny shit to each other list !

Rodney is leading in points so far

Anonymous said...

No doubt about it. City of Quincy out of control in spending and waste, then so is all of government, but the School Board surpasses both.

School Board needs to be sued, but try to find an attorney to handle it without buque bucks up front and ACLU is Democrat too.

House for sale in Quincy. House wanted in Missouri.

Here's another one for next week

Chief of Police, Police Aldermanic Committee, and Director of Purchasing recommending approval of the following purchases: Ray O’Herron, Danville, IL, single source – forty Glock Model 22 pistols $5,730; Heinie Specialty Products, Quincy, single source – forty night sights $3,000; Ray O’Herron, Danville, IL, forty holsters $3,640; Shore Galleries, Lincolnwood IL, forty light assemblies $8,976.

Can ANYONE tell us, Does QPD HAVE a budget?

Seems like they just sit down there and thumb thru ENFORCEMENT MONTHLY and shop for new stuff.

40 New Glocks?

When is the last time someone on the force actually shot someone?

I'm sure the Police range takes most of the action.

Drunk drivers, intoxicated drivers, inebriated drivers, "tipsy" drivers and "buzzed" drivers. Especially those that just left one of our city, county, church sanctioned drunkfests held in the name of a good time and fundraising and God. Give me a fuckin' break.

The smoking ban is official. Blago signed the bill earlier today. What a glorius day Jan. 1, 2008, will be.

Anonymous said...

Kiss my ass you panty-waist smokers, Blago singed the bill today! Happy Jan 1 pub owners, at least now you'll have to do better drink & food prices, or you'll go under! Get with it or go under, pub owners! I know the Replay owner will get with it, you watch, he will find a way to make it work, he's the only one of you that has any business savy.

Public places in Illinois will soon be forced to go smoke-free.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich today signed the Smoke-Free Illinois Act, which will ban smoking statewide in all public places, including bars, restaurants and work places.

The ban goes into effect Jan. 1 and trumps most local ordinances, including those that allowed smoking bans to be phased in or exempted businesses with air filtration systems.

Under the law, people will still be allowed to smoke in their homes, cars, outdoors, at retail tobacco shops and in certain hotel or motel rooms.

Smokers who violate the law could be fined between $100 and $250. And businesses who repeatedly violate the law could be fined at least $2,500

Woohoo! At least BlowMeBitch can do something right! Now if he and his dick-sucking pals MadAgain and Evil Jones can get a budget passed that doesn't totally screw everybody, but them, we'll at least be moving in a direction. It may not necessarily be the right direction, but at least we're moving.

Waiting an hour at The Tower for a simple pizza burns my ass. And then having to argue with the pseudo-manager, instead of the restaurant god, McClean, to convince him of his poor customer service is ridiculous. I bet business is good enough to afford a couple more pizza ovens, huh?

TOOKIE said...

Dude we usually wait an hour for a seat !

be happy !

you should have asked for the McClean on duty !

Anonymous said...

Tookie (5:52),

We did wait our requisite hour (actually a little less) for a seat. Once seated, our waitress was prompt and brought our drinks and appetizers quickly. After that it was all downhill. The drinks and appetizers were long gone , apparently with the waitress, 'cause she disappeared as well. The kiddies were "starving" and several of those seated after us, with varying party sizes and varying orders were served first.

TOOKIE said...

Happens on a Busy night ! I bet if you speak to the McClean rep via phone they will make it up to you . They are busy because they do know how to run a place .

It may have been your server . I do not know because I was no there , but in general you could call K , R, J , or G and they will straighten it out even the next day .

They like repeat business !

Quincy Fire said...

Amazing

You all bitched because everyone was tired of the smoking posts here, but when the law was signed in you all posted here.

Please take it to the Q Smokehouse like I did.

Heads up dumbass. We ALL lost with that one. Just wait until one of your nasty habit becomes illegal.

Now that the foot is in the door, rights will start dropping like flys.

Stay tuned.........

Anonymous said...

10:41

F you, dipshit, go call the ACLU and tell them your "rights" are being trampled on, you asshat.

Don't worry, they won't take away your right to be a fucktard.

Anonymous said...

1045 amazes us with his total lack of a working brain !

I would ponder if he went to QND .

Would explain a lot .

Anonymous said...

I also wonder if Fr Badtouch played with him too often !

Anonymous said...

What about the "right" to eat trans fats ? What, does someone blowing trans fats in your face bother you? Will your life be shortened by being in the same room with them? Will banning trans fats make more people come out to eat?

You just sit back now and do what the state tells you and you'll all be happy.

Yes, I went to QND! No, father bad touch didn't get me (if you had any sense, you kept away from from the priests, only dickheads that really wanted it in the first place got nailed by father bad touch).

Enjoy your smoke free 08 & forever after! You should feel lucky, you rebels, at least they let you smoke in you own home.

TOOKIE said...

Hey anti smoking Cock gobbler . Seeing as I am about balls deep in lung cancer , I can shoot some of your facts to hell. 50% of all lung cancer patients NEVER smoked .

When the masses QUIT smoking how is the State going to cover that Back log in lost money ? Do we really want everyone to live to 100 ?

I pegged you as a QND -er because I was around too many of the "tops" of your class . If you knew how deep I was in with them you would cry a jealous fit .

Letting the state just dictact over and over again is NOT what America was founded from .

Anonymous said...

6:27

Jeez, Tookie, am I wrong to be happy they put through the smoking ban, that they finally put in a law I agree with? Well pardon fucken me and the other son-of-a bitches that don't have to walk through a god damn smoke screen to take their kids tot he play area at McDonalds.

How many victories can be claimed in the politics these days? Is the Rate Relief a victory for anyone? GET? Fuck no, mother fucker. At least let me gloat on this, for God's sake!

In Special Ed's voice: "No smoking in 08, Yay!! Yay!!!"

TOOKIE said...

Yes but the ban everywhere that is temperate has been proven bad for business .

I would rather see the Abbey , Uncle Bobs , etc etc make a profit with smoke than lose money over the Law makers passing Judgement .

I think we are allowing our basic freedoms to be encroched at a staggering basis.

This is something I strongly disagree with .

Anonymous said...

What if the state says because your kids are to fat that you can no longer go to Mickey D's ?

QUINCY -- Lawsuits filed on behalf of some taxpayers against the Quincy Public School District already have cost the district more than 130 thousand dollars.

We've already told you that a judge ruled a couple of weeks ago that the district improperly used money from its tort immunity fund to pay for part of some staff salaries. The district hasn't decided if it will appeal that ruling.

We received a copy of some correspondence between the school board office and a Quincy taxpayer. The district answered the man's request for the total legal fees the district has spent to defend the tort levy lawsuit. The letter says the amount is approximate, because it also includes money spent on two other suits filed regarding two other tax years.

We spoke to Rich Royalty about those fees Friday. He's the Business Manager for the Quincy School District. He told us the district had to defend itself.

Why spend that kind of money on a lawsuit?

Royalty said, "Well, the option or alternative was to not do anything and accept whatever decision was rendered was appropriate, and for us to do that and not use any of those dollars for tort salaries on whatever personnel salaries, we have to look at that decision and ask do we want to continue with what we had or scale back."

Royalty says the district is able to spend tort money on paying for lawsuits and settlements in case the district is sued.

But he said the district believes it should be able to use that tort money for security, accident prevention and other risk management procedures so lawsuits don't happen in the first place

Well Done Sean Well Done

Anytime!

Is it just me, or does Royalty's response not make any sense?

Tower treats their employees like they are all ignorant fools, or better yet, slaves,
those ovens are 30-40 years old, from the old Tower on 20th, one oven came from a ditch at McLean's house,

still love the food though.....
