It's a-holes like you that don't see the BIG picture.
It all starts with the most annoying things. Next it will be trans fats. Then what? Gum? Chew? Candy? TV (for the children)? Video Games?
Once it starts, it don't stop. Most people with brain larger than a pea can see that this ain't just a smoking issue.

Watching the posts and comments here leads me to several observations:
1. Most people have a problem with smoke in eating establishments.
2. Few here just hate smokers.
While it's a hot topic, would encourage everyone that smokes to quit. Everytime a person quits, it really is great, think of all the money the person saves, and the health benefits. I am that naive in that I would wish people for anyone that struggles with nicotine addiction, that they ould be able to quit. A couple of people I work with have quit & have stayed off cig's, for over 2 years now! Even you pvt property owner decide freeman caveman types, I hope you all quit. Good living is the best revenge, so when they pass the ban, say piss on it , it won't apply to me,and quit, and out live the do-gooder liberals, just to spite them. Be too spiteful to die!
All this talk about business owners uniting amounts to is a bunch of sleez-bag tavern owners & "hire pretty loose young girls so the dudes will come in and spend money" bar-grill managers pissing and moaning about their "pander to everyone's vices" incomes being threatened.
These sleez-bags need to get real jobs, instead of pandering to vices.

Why shouldn't government regulate sunbathing and outlaw ads for beach resorts, on the grounds that sunlight can cause skin cancer? Why shouldn't Washington tell us what to eat, how to dress and when to exercise? Why shouldn't they — in order to protect us against ideas incompatible with the "public good" — dictate the content of books, movies and television shows? What's next?

What an angry mob, had to have half the police force there to deal with the miscreants (the pub owners that showed up last night). I loved it, the beverage guy doesnt show up! Great, effective speeches by the oncologist from Blessing & lung society person from Springfield. Way to set em up and knock em down, making the councli aware of the ramifications post being advised of the health issues. Set em up and knock em down, what a one two punch! Also loved the COC guy, "It's good for bidness to kill people w 2nd smoke...." If killing is your busines, I hope business is bad. And Don Heck, "If you put this ban in, it will close all the pubs" as Copely's eyes lit up. And that's a bad thing why?
Not many questions from the council. None from the Mayor. It seems they have their minds made up. Punt?
Fire, OQ, Sam, are you guys okay? I mean really, I can't help but worry about you guys, wondering how you are doing when your "govt shouldn't tell us what to do, let the owners decide, pvt property" position is losing so much ground in so many places. Really, I wonder how you are taking it? Are you all able to sleep at night? All these mean, dictatorial public health rules and ordinances being passed, everywhere! Even here soon! What are you gonna do? Do you all need a therapist to deal with the disappointment? Maybe you could start a support group for each other! Are you just taking it laying down, like men? THE QUESTION I HAVE IS "WHY DO THE LIBERAL DEMOCRATS ALWAYS WANT TO TELL US WHAT TO DO AND TAKE AWAY PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY". THEY ARE ALL IN FAVOR OF WOMAN CHOSING TO ABORT A CHILD. ON OTHER ISSUES LIKE SMOKING, GUNS, SCHOOL CHOICE, THEY TAKE THE OPPOSITE POSTION. THEY SEEM TO BE IN FAVOR OF PERSONAL CHOICE AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY WHEN IT FAVORS THEIR LIBERAL AGENDA.
